The Rime Sovereign, Keeper of Water

Water fought hardest to stay free. As the binders chained it, it turned to frost and the frost took a shape: a hooded spirit of ice nearly four blocks tall, gliding just over the floor of its temple in the Frosted Lands. 250 health.

Damage here is for Medium: Easy halves it, Hard adds half again.

Its second form

Below half health it is enraged. The hood gives way to a crown of icicles and the veil shatters into a storm of shards. It waits 40% less between moves, its volleys fan five icicles and its rain drops eight.

How to beat it

  1. Break the four crystals on its temple towers first: while one stands, it heals the Sovereign 4 health every second. A bow reaches them from the ground.
  2. Fight from mid range, out of the nova's 7 blocks. Strafe across the volleys and watch the ground for the rain's marks.
  3. When it calls the frozen dead, turn on them at once: two Frostbitten at your back while you dodge icicles is how most fights end.
  4. Below half health, keep moving and never stand still under a marked spot.

Bring roast meat or a Hearth Pot dish, Sunapples for the Sun Shield, and the warmest armour you have. The Rime Sovereign is the usual first Keeper: its helmet lets you breathe and see under water for every fight after.

What it leaves

  • 2 to 4 Water Ore, the ore of its element: the Water Helmet, Tidal arrows, a Tidal tool and, with the others, the Poison Sword.
  • 6 to 10 rimeiron, the gem of the Frosted Lands: blades that chill what they hit.
  • A Frost Heart, half the time. Hold it, or keep it in the offhand, and Chill, Frozen and Frostbite stay off you: no icicles, no novas, no Drift Snow cold.
  • Everyone at the fight learns Rimeshard, the Water spell, and earns the Rime motes aura and its Keeper's Mark, looks that are never sold.
  • Beating it opens the Water Titan's cradle: Tidewrought wakes only for a player who has.

Its temple's two chests hold Dawnspar, Sunapples, farglasses and often a Torn Page: Page XII tells how the Sovereign was bound.

The others: The Magma Colossus, The Thorn Guardian, The Tempest, The Robot Titan, The Crowned Wyrm. Back to the Keepers. All sections: the guides.
